Ref: BB30084Z

GOLD MEDAL 2008 - GOLD MEDAL 2008 -

Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Huge aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker's chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a huge, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew.

Struise Black Damnation II 12° - 1/3L
Ref: BB40286J

STOCK LIMITED!!!

The Black Damnation series is a dark twist of Urban’s mind. His idea is to realize a dozen beers with the use of Black Albert, and over a period of two years, that are as black as hell, filthy rich in the nose and with a massive taste.

Black Damnation II is yet another blend with the use of Hel & Verdoemenis from Brouwerij De Molen. This time a level more complex than BD I. 50% of Black Albert was used that matured for a while on whole coffee beans out of a craft Columbian coffee plantation. 25% of H&V was used that aged for 6 months on JD barrels at Struise. Another 25% of Cuvée Delphine was used.

Beware: labels are the same, taste however isn’t. Some bottles are recognizable because of he handwritten 2 on them.

Pours a totally black color with soft medium brown head. A great nose of vanilla, tannic woody sour cherries, cocoa. The flavor is a massive bourbon barrel treatment, vanilla and wood, lots of slightly sour cherries, roast, alcohol warmth, some hops. A creamy palate. Loads of bourbon. Metallic. Dry and smoky in the finish. Re-rate: what an amazing brew. A deep black hue with a thick dark brown head. Sour woody notes, some cherries. Rich sweet cocoa and vanilla along with sour mash and bourbon. Awesome!

Struise-Mikkeller is as we said in the past "Best of two worlds". We delivered an IPA with 130 IBU (Batch I), 150 IBU (Batch II), 163 IBU (Batch III), but a bitterness hidden the Struise way, counter balanced by maltyness, alcohol and rest sugars.

Struise-Mikkeller is a distinguished 'Double IPA' of 130 IBU. This slightly hazy, amber-coloured ale pours a nice and creamy yellowish, off-white head. The aroma is packed with hops, fine spices, and the best of candi sugars. The taste is very generous, elegant, and, to our taste, perfectly in balance. On the palate you can notice touches of grapefruit, other hints of citrus, spices, smooth sugars, and tons of hops. This unique ale has a long, lingering aftertaste, and offers 'The Best of Two Worlds" -- for that is what Struise-Mikkeller is all about. While this ale was already anounced since April 2007, it took another six months of full lagering before bottling could take place.

The PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. This beer is dedicated a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover the Struise beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for the Struise beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

Our brew-master was born and raised in Newport Belgium. In the early days around 1600, a lot of women were accused of witch craft and got burned alive... The city council of Newport asked Urbain to develop a session beer for the two yearly evocation of a Newport witch called Jeanne Panne. Jeanne was as ugly as can be and had copper coloured hair. Elements enough for Urbain to create a rather exciting ale.
