Val Dieu blond 1/3L

Val Dieu blond 1/3L
Ref: BB21094

This authentic Abbey Ale is based on the recipe perfected centuries ago by the monks of Abbey du Val-Dieu.
The body is hazy pale yellow with a smallish foamy head that leaves good lace. The aroma is fairly mildly wheat malt with some horse blanket yeast aroma. Taste is rather uncomplicated fruity esters (banana, apple, and apricot mostly) with a lemony tartness and a spicy aftertaste. Feels weak and mild which is probably true to the style. A nice summertime pleasure when you don’t want something too challenging.

Originaly inspired by a monastic recipe from the abbey of the same name, which as already produce a pale and a brown ale.
Abbey triple pale ale, unfiltered and unpasteurised, brewed by a layman in the right wing of the abbey.
Its a full bodied taste is progressive but never excessive. A slightly sugared flavour in the middle of the mounth - a perfect combination of alcohol, bitterness and sweetness. Finally accentuates an aromatic and alcohol bitterness. Excellent and highly digestible, particulary when accompagning a good meal.
Head : Nice white head, not too oily because of its high alcohol content.

Vichtenaar 5,1° - 1/4L

Vichtenaar 5,1° - 1/4L
Ref: BB28249Z

Vichtenaar is a beer, brewed with roasted malts, spicey hops, fruity yeast and soft water, pumped up from a 172 m deep well, guaranteeing constant quality and pureness of the liquor. After primary and secondary lagering, Vichtenaar gets a ternary fermentation in oak vessels during 8 months. These oak pipes are big tuns with a capacity varying between 500 and 2500 hectolitres. Vichtenaar is a traditional and specific Western Flemish beer, from the northwest of Belgium. Its taste can be described as mild-sourish and suitably complex, thanks to the long lagering on oak. This tart flavour makes it eminently suitable for the hot summer months. “Vichtenaar” is one of the last Flemish ''Oud bruins'' that are really lagered in the oak tuns, and are as such appreciated by the connoisseur, looking for authenticity. As early as 1958 ''Vichtenaar'' was crowned as the top in an international concours in Gent.

Vieille Salme 8.3°-1/3L
Ref: BB21108

It is uniquely its amber colored appearance that makes this beer look somewhat old-fashioned. This beer is in fact rather young and refreshing, whish gives it a fruity aroma. It is light in palate with no acridity.
Gold with an excellent fluffy white head and good condition. Good perfumed hoppines and delicate suggestion of spices in the aroma but as it warms some starchiness develops. Full bodied and chalky in the mouth with some hefty maltiness and a delicate spiced and perfumed edge. A nicely developing yeastiness tries to steer it towards witbier territory but it wants to be a Duvel and tries hard to stick to the plan. Malty finish that dries out quite quickly leaving some yeast and hop notes lingering.

The beer pours a deep beclouded brown with a semi-creamy head that is mountainous in size as it slowly fades a satin sheet of lace is left to obscure the glass from sight. Nose is rich in sweet malt with a nice hint of yeast, also crisp and fresh, with a hint of brandy bitterness, front is sweet with a good malt presence, the top feels moderate to the palate. Finish is heavy-handed in its acidity with the hops prickly in their spicy bite, tart and somewhat alcohol bitter aftertaste that is also sherry dry, and the alcohol does tend to warm the belly, a fine drinking beer.

Vuuve is brewed in the tradition of the classic Belgian white beer. 60% barley malt, 40% wheat malt, hops, coriander, and fresh organic orange peel. Steamed and charged out of the bottle in a flood of froth and fizz. The result was something that looked more like Duvel than Hoegaarden - but darker than both. The aroma was of wheat and heavy yeast. The taste lacked the tartness and volume of coriander to be a true witbier. What was there instead was a wonderful quaffable golden ale that is lively on in the glass and on the tongue.
