Waterloo Tripel 7,5° - 1/3L

Waterloo Tripel 7,5° - 1/3L
Ref: BB30063Z

Waterloo Tripel is brewed on huge amounts of pilsener malt. Aromatic Saazer and Spalter hops are added, but to no further extent than to give it a bitterness equal to a pilsener which gives more room to the beer’s sweetness. The beer is fermented with Du Bocq’s original yeast strain which is responsible for the delicate, spicy expression. After maturation and filtration the beer has a secondary fermentation in the bottle which causes its slight cloudiness.

Good orange hazy color with a thin layer of creamy foam on it. Aroma is a wash with strong fruity flavors. The usual citrus notes are there, then some hints of dates and fig. The flavor is just as parallel with the usual flavors that one should expect, but then there is good mix of sweetness that’s the real pay dirt. There is a little bit of purple grapes in the flavor. The palate is quite crisp, and really pleases.

Pours a golden brown with a slight haziness. Strong generous off white head. Initial odor is of candy and alcohol notes with some spiciness. Definite spiciness and tartness in the taste. Finishes bitter but slightly dry.
Hazy orange-amber beer with chunks of sediment in it. It pours with a thick, white head that lasts the entire glass. The aroma sweet and fruity, with yeast, apricot, clove and banana notes prevalent. It is a very complex aroma that is reminiscent of some weizens as well as the standard triple smells. The taste is dominated by alcohol up front, which gives way to a very strong clove flavor. Sweetness fills in behind the alcohol fumes, which has hints of carmelized sugar and banana. A robust bitterness finishes off the flavor profile. A unique lingering aftertaste is also pleasant, and reminiscent of alcohol-laced bubble gum. The mouthfeel is very rich, and coats the tongue while still having a lightness to it due to the fine carbonation.

Beer is sweet in a liqueurish way, medium-dry. Slight peachy, sourish taste, nothing to do with carbonation. Sourish-prickly sensation, no alcohol-burn. Soft basis. No new aftertaste, finish a bit empty (maize...). Witkap tipel has a break between the nose and the taste/finish. It gets mellow and lighter after the beginning.
Great tripel! Big yeasty nose, hazy pale khaki color, and a foamy, sticky head. Sweet orange and corriander tastes with a brief hop finish. Sugary at times in the middle. Full body, complex and spicy.
